Job Description:

Marian University seeks qualified candidates for the position of Campus Minister for Ancilla College of Marian University. Working closely with the Chancellor and the Director of Campus Ministry, this minister promotes Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by understanding the unique needs of college students and their faith formation, implementing opportunities that respond to these needs and fluently working with persons of many cultures, ethnicities and religious traditions. S/He must possess a mature and passionate ministerial identity, the ability to foster a welcoming environment, be innovative, collaborative, an excellent communicator and illustrate successful experience engaging with young adults.

The Campus Minister will directly serve the Ancilla campus community, interact with all areas of Mission and Ministry, collaborate with the Campus Ministry team in Indianapolis, and co-create programming for the Donaldson and Indianapolis campuses. S/He is responsible for ensuring the following: forming student leaders, managing the Campus Ministry scholarship program, service and immersion opportunities, oversee prayer and worship experiences, coordinate faith formation and evangelization and be available to accompany students of all faiths on their spiritual journeys.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
  • Develop and implement student leadership model of ministry.
  • Assist in identifying and selecting the Campus Ministry Scholarship recipients.
  • Develop ministry reflecting the intercultural identity of the student body.
  • Advise student leaders to develop and implement service and immersion opportunities, prayer and worship experiences, small faith sharing groups, hospitality events and evangelization.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Ministry team at Marian, developing and promoting events and opportunities occurring on both campuses.
  • Attend both bi-weekly Mission and Ministry and weekly Campus Ministry meetings remotely.
  • Manage a fiscally sound budget.
  • Collaborate with other departments on campus in order to integrate ministerial presence such as recruiting events with admissions, student orientations, and athletic events.
  • Assist the MU Vice President for Mission Integration for tasks at ACMU.
  • Facilitate the integration of prayer throughout ACMU programs and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with the MU Director of Campus Ministry with bi-weekly meetings.
  • Professional development as needed or suggested by supervisor.
  • Fostering relationships with community partners in order to serve the greater Donaldson community.
  • Collaborate with the PHJC chaplain to implement liturgies.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, social work, or related field
  • Bi-lingual candidates strongly considered
  • Willingness to attain a Master’s degree in theology or ministry (if not already possessed)
  • Experience in forming student leaders.
  • Experience in developing and promoting prayer and worship experiences.
  • An understanding of Catholic Campus Ministry to include Ex Corde Ecclesiae, Empowered by the Spirit, The Joy of the Gospel.
  • Manage time that may include evenings and weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Writing skills preferred
  • Ability to work well with students, staff, faculty
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office programs such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint
  • Experienced with Web 2.0 social media applications (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, etc)
