Occ Summary

Perform a variety of complex specialized tasks em inent in operatingradiographic equipment to perform vascular and neurora diologyangiographic and interventional procedures.


Work Perf ormed

Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the opera tion ofradiographic equipment to make special study radiographs of desig natedbody portions in accordance with radiation safety procedures.Positi on patients; immobilize as necessary.Assist radiologist during angiograp hic and interventional procedures.Operate fluoroscopic equipment. Positi on patients for rapid sequencefilming during contrast media administrati on.Set up sterile trays and other equipment practicing sterile technique .Assist radiologist during procedure to include handling of instruments, operating and monitoring equipment, calling out equipment readings;alert ing physician to changes in patient condition.Scrub to assist with passa ge of catheters/guidewires.Load power injectors with contrast media; pre pare for injection.Maintain studies within the Image archival system.Sch edule patient procedures from referring physician's offices.Charge patie nts for procedures and supplies inEHR.Assist in orientation of new tech nologists; provide education andtraining to student technologists. Maint ain patient records andstatistical data. Coordinate scheduling and patie nt flow within theneuro/vascular radiographic suites; coordinate procedu re performanceacross different hospital divisions (anesthesia, pediatric s, radiology).Perform other related duties incidental to the work therei n (patienttransport, etc.)Maintain supply inventory; order supplies.Assi st with training of new physicians (attendings, interns, residents,and f ellows).Assist radiologists withdevelopment of new protocols and imagin gtechniques that are unique to facility. Participate in researchinitiati ves and development of research protocols. Demonstrateproficiency in the performance of neuro and vascular angiographic andinterventional proced ures.Orient new technologists to these procedures.Monitor charging of pr ocedures and supplies for division to ensurecorrectness.Monitor assigned inventory expiration dates.Maintain a par inventory of catheters, ballo ons, stents, guidewires, andmiscellaneous kits under discretion of manag er.Monitor inventory levels and par-levels.Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.**DUHS offers career growth and enrichmen t within Imaging services.There is a clinical ladder program with variou s steps and opportunitiesat each hospital within the health system.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology OR Graduate of a bachelor's degree program in Radiology


Experience

Level I must obtain ARRT certification within 12 months of employment. in Level II Minimum of two years' experience as an Interventional technologist. Level III A minimum of four years' experience within specialty modality which they are seeking promotion


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

ARRT certification in radiography ARRT certification in vascular interventional technology must be obtained within 12 months of hire BLS certification
