Essential Job Duties:

Veterinary Technician in the small animal Intermediate Care Unit of the NC State Veterinary Hospital. Provide hourly care for hospitalized patients, including IV catheter placement, blood draws, IV fluid therapy, medication calculations and communication of patient status. Will be working closely with clinicians and 4th year veterinary students. Temporary position to help during staffing shortages.

Minimum Experience/Education:

Prefer at least 1 year veterinary technician experience.
Proficient with patient restraint and blood draws.
Prefer previous experience with IV catheters, fluid therapy and medication calculations.
Prefer experience in working a busy teaching hospital or referral hospital.

Department Required Skills:

At least I year of previous veterinary technician experience. Patient care, IV catheter placement, medication administration. Great communication skills, ability to learn quickly.
Ability to work in and around sick patients with potential infectious diseases.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

Prefer work in a busy teaching hospital or referral hospital

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) a plus
