Lecturer - Digital Sound Creation and Studio Production - Department of Music

The Department of Music at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks a composer/performer/producer who is focused on digital sound creation and who works in any blend of music genres from HipHop to EDM to more experimental practices. The ideal applicant is active as a performer and/or producer and is able to teach courses in digital music production, using DAWs, in ways that push the boundaries of sound and style. The candidate would open new areas of undergraduate study and assist our students in better understanding the culture, history, and practices of the laptop-based recording/production studio both locally in the Bay Area and beyond.

Instructor will teach students both how to create music using Digital Audio Workstations and about the cultural/historical context in which the music is made. This is an entry-level class meant to introduce undergraduates to Music Production using Digital Audio Workstations.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include: holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), creating and grading exams and homework, and using a learning management system (e.g. bCourses) and/or maintaining a course website.

The Department seeks candidates whose teaching, performance and service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion and to increasing the participation of individuals from groups historically underrepresented in higher education.
