University of California Los Angeles
Requisition Number: 33452
Salary: $4,700 - $11,717 monthly
The UCLA Broad Stem Cell Research Center is a multi-disciplinary and integrated collaboration of scientific, academic and medical disciplines for the purpose of revolutionizing the treatment of disease through personalized cellular therapies and regenerative medicine. Our more than 240 faculty members represent the professional schools (Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Dentistry, Engineering, Law and Management) as well as the College. The Center's activities involve collaborations across UCLA, as well as throughout the state, country and globe. Our work encompasses all three pillars of the University's education, research and service mission.
Reporting to the Center's Director of Communications, Marketing, Education and Outreach, the Communications Manager is a key contributor to the development and implementation of a broad range of strategic communications and outreach initiatives. These initiatives are aimed at engaging stakeholders and the public in the Center's mission through traditional media outreach, social media, website content, photography, videography, blogs, emails and events. In addition to drafting, editing, pitching and otherwise distributing content, this position collaborates with the Director to train scientists at all levels to be more effective communicators and to educate the public about the rapidly evolving field of stem cell research.
A primary objective of this position is to raise the public profile of the Center and its members through media relations and multimedia content creation sharing research advances, patient stories and funding successes in compelling and accessible terms. This position is highly collaborative and works closely with Center members, patients and trainees, communications and marketing officers from across UCLA, advocacy groups, academic and industry partners and funding agencies. The position also contributes substantively to Center fundraising objectives through close collaboration with the development team and through the creation of targeted donor-focused communications and collateral.
