This position will ensure effective functioning of the Mechanical Engineering Chair’s office. Directly supervises and trains others in the Chair’s office. Provides oversight and approval of annual major event planning as assigned by the Chair. Serves as liaison to webmaster for department website. Coordinates/supervises all aspects of the Mechanical Engineering Chair’s travel schedule. Supervises the planning of all internal events hosted by the Chair. Initiates correspondence on the Chair’s behalf. Maintains highly sensitive and confidential information concerning faculty and staff promotions, evaluations, recommendations, disciplinary acts and salary increases. Provides back-up administrative support when needed to business officers in processing PRDs, SRMs, and Procard purchases. Oversees promotion and tenure for Mechanical Engineering faculty. Coordinates teacher course evaluations. Execute all travel arrangements for faculty and students. Oversee student organization arrangements for meeting space and events. Reconciles all Mechanical Engineering accounts monthly. Supervises the implementation of the training courses, which are delegated to department clerical staff.Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
