General Description:

The Institutional Research Analyst is responsible for developing data to support the College’s initiatives; analyzing research data; and developing appropriate analytical findings, projections, and trends for use in institutional decision-making. This individual will use information from the College’s Datatel system, other colleges, and regional and national data banks to generate the necessary data. Internal information will be developed using business objects and various other sources.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree.

Three years of experience in secondary or higher education research, data analysis, and information dissemination.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and e-mail or similar software

Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet manipulations, such as pivoting, functions, and formatting

Strong background in database management and manipulation

Ability to use queries to extract data from an integrated data system

Ability to present facts clearly, concisely, and objectively

Ability to develop trends, analyses, and projections using statistical analysis where appropriate

Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and management

Good verbal, written, and presentation skills

Ability to work independently

Commitment to data accuracy and consistency

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability and willingness to work beyond the normal work schedule when necessary

Willing and able to perform any necessary job-related travel

Job Duties (Position Specific):

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):

Support the extraction and manipulation of data for internal and external reporting, i.e., enrollment reports, graduation reports, national reports, state reports, and program reviews.

Prepare data for College performance reports, such as the Monitoring Reports for the OCCC Board of Regents.

Assist in the collection, analysis, and reporting of data for internal and external groups.

Conduct detailed research regarding student success, retention, persistence, progression, course completion, and graduation.

Provide detailed data for accreditation reports and data requests to support academic program materials.

Work with faculty and staff to identify the appropriate research studies to meet their needs. Design, implement, and report on these study results.

Support and provide graphical interpretation of data and information from various reports.

Serve on various College committees as a data resource.

Analyze and prepare reports using demographic and workforce data.

Conduct statistical analysis to support the College’s projects, including regression analysis, forecasting analysis, and trends.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
