In addition to the Nursing Programs, The newly renovated School of Health Sciences building houses the The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program, EMT and Paramedic Programs, and Dental Programs, supporting a culture of interprofessional healthcare educational experiences.

The University is regionally accredited by SACSCOC and approved as a Level III institution offering associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees. The BSN program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The BSN Program consist of a night/weekend curriculum designed for completion in 4 consecutive 16-week semesters for a total of 60 credit hours. The Practical Nursing (PN) program is approved by the Florida Department of Nursing and designed for completion in 3 consecutive 16-week semesters for a total of 36 credit hours.

Hodges University is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated candidate to serve as Program Director of the Thelma T. Hodges Nursing Program. The Program Director will serve as the administrator of the academic unit with the authority and responsibility for the development and administration of the Program to include faculty, curriculum, scheduling of classes, accreditation, and program development. In addition, the Program Director provides leadership in workforce initiatives, meeting student enrollment and retention goals; directing and participating in educational planning; organizing and evaluating the Program; staffing, training, evaluating and supervising full-time and part-time faculty; evaluating student performance; motivating and advising students; generating and responding to requests for Program reports. The Program Director will have sufficient time and resources to fulfill the role’s responsibilities, the program’s educational goals and objectives, and the program’s compliance with specialized programmatic accreditation.

The nursing program enjoys a rich tri-county clinical resource access area for authentic clinical experiences. Community engagement and collaboration are key to the Hodges University mission and values. We are student mindful in supporting their aspirational and educational goals in a professional faculty-student partnership. Nursing faculty participate in (1) teaching undergraduate-level nursing courses, possibly including blended and online courses; (2) participating in broad-based university, college, and departmental committee work; (3) collaboration with colleagues, (4) advising students and (5) supervising students field experiences.

Required Qualifications

  1. A master's degree with a major in nursing (e.g., MSN, MA in Nursing).
  2. Practice experience as a nurse clinician.
  3. Evidence of teaching effectiveness in campus and online nursing courses.
  4. Evidence of the ability to supervise and collaborate with colleagues in the academic, clinical, and community settings.
  5. Demonstrated working knowledge and compliance with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards.
  6. Current and unrestricted professional nurse license issued and/or recognized by the state of Florida. 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. A doctoral degree with a major in nursing (e.g., DNP, DNS, PhD in Nursing).
  2. Sustained membership in professional nursing organizations.
  3. Experience in teaching graduate programs.
  4. Evidence of sustained professional development, professional service, professional scholarship, and advocacy in nursing.
  5. Prior experience as Program Director.
