The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) is seeking an educational researcher to join MCG’s Education Innovation Institute. Consistent with the strategic plan of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), the Education Innovation Institute (EII) drives both research in medical education and capacity building in the scholarship of medical education. This position is key to EII fulfilling its important role in supporting and strengthening the medical education scholarship at MCG. The person in this role will conduct and publish research in their chosen area(s) integrated into the MCG strategic plan, related EII tactical plans, and support faculty capacity building through the design, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality faculty development. These studies will help guide the implementation and improvement of the new curriculum. This will also allow us to see on the horizon important and valuable changes that we can make to the curriculum to achieve the goals that we have set out.

 

They will especially contribute to the design and delivery of the Research Fellowship both: Parts A (finding, critiquing, and using research) and B (producing original research, collecting, and analyzing data and publishing) as well as other faculty development programs. This will help cultivate faculty from several health professions, colleges, and programs to expand research capacity in education. Furthermore, the Research Fellowship will support faculty to advance their careers through the proposed joint venture with the College of Education. Future leaders in health professional education will also be better trained to take on their educational responsibilities. Finally, this person will enhance the work of the others also engaged in research in medical education, especially the core researchers in the Education Innovation Institute of MCG through collaborations and contributions to our community of practice in health professions education.

 

This position is integral to the research of the unit and necessary to deliver a high-quality faculty development program to help up-skill our faculty for the new MCG 3+ curriculum.

 

Search Committee:  Faculty candidates will be reviewed by an OAA/COC educator faculty search committee for medical educator effort allocation within academic departments.

 

Reporting:  Faculty member will report to the Director of the Educational Innovation Institute

   

Minimum Requirements         

  • Doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent)
  • Educational experience in medical education or other health sciences-related educational programs
  • It is essential that the candidate have an active research agenda with projects at different stages of completion, ranging from published works as first or lead author to ongoing data collection and the formation of research teams and collaborations looking at new ideas.

   

Conditions of Employment         

All candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review. For specific positions, the final candidate may be subject to a (pre-employment) physical, drug screen, and/or credit check.

The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
