Required Qualifications Graduate from accredited RN-eligible education program; Must have valid and current State of Georgia Registered Nurse license with ability to renew; 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably in medical/dental-surgical setting; American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certified; American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certified; American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certified; Ability to obtain certification in Conscious SedationKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    Proficient nursing skillsKnowledge of nursing practices/procedures and nursing practice law in State of GeorgiaDemonstrated ability to assess data reflective of patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care neededProficient in venipunctureCritical thinking skills Proficient word processing/computer skillsOutstanding organizational and communication skillsMust speak, read and write English language proficientlyMust perform routine tasks without instructionMust be able to function independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Nurse Coordinator for TMJ Team clinic; ensure efficient flow of clinic; direct meetings between disciplines; schedule appointments, send referrals and prescriptions, at doctors' requests; inform patients of treatment plans and care process
  • Nurse Coordinator for IV Sedation Continuing Education course; didactic and clinical teaching; coordinate scheduling with CE department
  • Infection Prefentionist for the ASC; conduct monthly survellience for standard precautions, cleanliness and sanitation, infection prevention assessment of the ASC
  • Administration of medications safely & appropriately; dispenses and maintains inventory of controlled drugs in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic
  • Patient education, providing educational material, as well as pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients and their families
  • Maintain clean and sterile surgical rooms in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic in the Dental College of Georgia (DCG)
  • Maintain log books on all sedations and biopsy reports for OMFS clinic; maintain OMFS clinic monthly patient census; provide documentation for accreditation purposes
  • Facilitate medical clearances for medically compromised patients; draw pre-operative laboratory tests; coordinates hyperbaric therapy.
  • First Responder to all Dental College emergencies (Code 66); responds to needle sticks in the DCG
  • Review outpatient records prior to procedure appointments for medical risk stratification
  • Maintain inventory on code carts, AED & other specific dental equipment for the DCG/Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery department, ensuring that all materials are within date usage range
  • Augment ASC staffing, as needed, to meet minimum standards of care
  • Seats and transports patients via wheelchair/gurney
Shift/Salary Shift: Days/M-F.
