Position Summary:

Incumbent designs the architecture, tools, and application environment for UCHDW. Leads data engineers from all UC Health medical centers and partners with UCHDW data scientists and analysts to ensure data integrity, completeness, and availability. Designs, implements, and manages the UCHDW environment to facilitate the effective use of UCHDW across UC Health. Initial projects will include planning, designing and implementing migration of the UCHDW infrastructure into the UC Health Azure Cloud.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to lead projects or portions of larger projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and/or combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software based technical issues to ensure a stable, robust data warehouse/BI environment in both Linux and Windows platforms
  • SSIS experience, especially project-based deployment and metadata-driven ETL architecture
  • 5 to 8 years programming experience in healthcare
  • Understanding of SQL and relational and multidimensional designs, with an emphasis in optimizing execution plans, evaluating indexing strategies, and overall RDBMS performance tuning
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, templates and analytical views

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business Intelligence (BI) tools experience
  • Full software lifecycle development experience using a variety of programming environments, including open source tools
  • Experience with data modeling tools
  • Databricks: Datalake architecture, Spark Development, Unmanaged Table Administration
  • Job Automation and API integration
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
