Department Summary:

The UNT Career Center is the centralized career office responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. The Frisco Career Services Office is part of the central office, but serves students taking classes on the UNT-Frisco campus and the employers that recruit them in regards to Internships and Post-Graduate Employment.

Position Overview:

The UNT Career Center is seeking to hire a Sr. Associate Director for Career Services for our Frisco Career Services team. The UNT Career Center is the centralized career office responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. The Frisco Career Services Office is part of the central office, but serves students taking classes on the UNT-Frisco campus and the employers that recruit them in regards to Internships and Post-Graduate Employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and five years of professional related experience; or
any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of career advising and development.
• Knowledge of university operations, policies, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of computer technology and applications in the career
services field.
• Ability to deal tactfully with students, individually and in group situations.
• Excellent presentation and counseling skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to supervise, train, and plan work of subordinates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in related field and five years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred candidate qualifications are:
•Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree in Higher Education is a plus
•Seven or more years of experience in a career services office and/or experience in a corporate setting in Human Resources/College Recruiting
•Three or more years managing a career center or satellite career office

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM; Some evening and weekends

o:

Provide direct supervision of professional career coaching staff, as well as any student employees, including all performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Set objectives for the Frisco Career Services office and coach the team to meet those objectives.

o:

Manage partnerships with employers, including current corporate partners and potential new corporate partners, serving as the face of UNT-Frisco Career Services.

o:

Provide career advising to all students in the UNT-Frisco, assisting them in preparing job search materials and connecting with employers that seek their specific degree.

o:

Manage relationships with UNT-Frisco faculty and administration, insuring that the services and programs provided are in line with their goals for the UNT-Frisco campus. This includes actively participating in all relevant meetings called by the UNT-Frisco administration.

o:

Manage the assessment of UNT-Frisco Career Services programs and services, and deliver reports to the campus community related to the results and effectiveness of office services.

o:

Provide budget requests for the office to the AVP & Executive Director of the UNT Career Center (Denton) and when necessary to the AVP-Student Services for Regional Campuses, determining the needs of the office and requesting budget adjustments, as necessary.

o:

Manage UNT-Frisco Career Services team which is responsible for the daily operations of the office while also assisting with recruitment, hiring, training, and performance management of those staff members.
