Job Description

Understand and analyze information technology/telecommunications needs of a manufacturing business in order to assess the potential impact of new or changing technology solutions. Gather business requirements, conduct research and analysis and develop reports, recommendations and plans to improve the quality of information technology- based products and services.
As an example, the MU Research Reactor continues to develop, manufacture and distribute radioisotopes under GMP/FDA compliance and desires to incorporate new or improve existing information systems to ensure 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

Facilitate business process re-engineering by providing recommendations to improve efficiencies through appropriate technologies and process design/redesign; ensure appropriate input and authorizations are obtained
from all operating units having an operating or information interest in the process being assessed. Utilize a variety of methods to document and communicate the flow of information/work processes including but not limited to diagrams, flow charts, and graphs. For example, the MU Research Reactor desires to upgrade the data collection, instrumentation, and operational capability of various specialized mechanical systems with information system technologies to enhance reliability and improve efficiency.

Contribute to the successful completion of assignments and projects by providing a variety of information including but not limited to cost estimates, return-on-investment analysis, business cases, feature and
functionality reports, process design documents, etc

Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers and stakeholders to understand business and functional needs; provide regular updates to affected parties.

Demonstrate a high level of initiative, independence, and maturity in all aspects of work; use creative and critical thinking techniques to identify and implement new or novel ways to improve products, services and service
delivery, demonstrate effective delegation skills when applicable.

Oversee and be responsible for the successful implementation of information system changes, whether those be enhancements to existing systems or deployment of new software solutions.


$50,000 - $65,000


8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience in the information technology, telecommunications industry, or related field is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an enterprise level, manufacturing and/or healthcare IT environment. Excellent customer service and communications skills. Successful completion of major projects in the Information Technology area, please describe in cover letter.
