Job Description

The University of Missouri seeks a coordinator to provide sustainability programming and education to students. From managing student organizations and providing leadership conferences to running the country’s largest alternative break program and experiential education programs, the Office of Student Engagement provides a wide range of programming to students. This position manages a number of programs for students while also serving as the primary staff role for education and student projects around sustainability and environmentalism.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and support Sustain Mizzou – a former student organization shifted over to being a program
  • Recruit, advise/supervise, mentor and train a diverse student leadership for various programs;
  • Work collaboratively with multiple university stakeholders to develop programs that meet the diverse needs of students, student staff, faculty, professional staff, and community representatives;
  • Manage budgets for various programs through the Sustainability Student Fee – a fee assessed to all MU students
  • Work with students and staff to create fundraising and sponsorship revenue to support various programs;
  • Serve as a professional mentor to student leaders;
  • Create and present educational programming regarding volunteer best practices;
  • Ensure University policies are met in all programs and opportunities to mitigate risk;
  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns for all programs in conjunction with the Division’s Marketing and Communications team;
  • Serve on various campus-wide committees;
  • Assist with a variety of university programs sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement (e.g., family weekend, orientation, campus activities);
  • Other duties as assigned.
Salary

Salary Range: $16.92 – $19.71 an hour

Grade: GGS 008

Shift

Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Attendance at some evening and weekend events may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Excellent written and oral communications skills;

Experience managing a budget and generating income;

Experience in leadership and/or service programming;

Strong interpersonal skills that would allow for frequent and comfortable conversations with administrators, staff, faculty, and students;

Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks;

Demonstrated success in marketing efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Social Work, Business Administration, Higher Education or a related area strongly desired;

Substantial experience in working with students;

Experience managing a team of students staff;

Be knowledgeable of student development theory and philosophy to appropriately support students and also to encourage learning and development;

Demonstrated experience managing programs involving high levels of risk;

Ability to develop a wide variety of programming including programs that serve a high number of people;

Ability to expand and sustain revenue sources;

Demonstrated commitment to student development/student learning;

Ability to create and maintain collaborative partnerships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
