Position Summary:

The University of Georgia (UGA) seeks an innovative, collaborative, and creative faculty member to serve as a Lecturer within the Division of Academic Enhancement (DAE). The DAE is a unit of the Office of Instruction (OVPI) whose central mission is to provide campus-wide leadership, collaboration, and support on matters related to instruction.

Serving as a Lecturer and as a certified Academic Coach, this 100% instructional position will teach a maximum of a four-four load (Fall and Spring semesters) within the UNIV curriculum. This is 9-month faculty position. As needs dictate, the load may be decreased to allow for alternative instructional duties. The Lecturer will also collaborate closely with fellow faculty as well as the Director of the DAE in the innovation of the UNIV curricula (particularly in STEM-based literacies) and across relevant DAE services, programs, and initiatives including but not limited to: first through fourth-year courses and workshops, Peer-Learning Assistants training, Academic Coaching, etc. Purposeful integration within programming beyond the curricula will enhance the experiences and overall success of students as well as create synergy among faculty and staff of the DAE.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in a STEM or STEM Education field, or a related field by the end of the Spring 2021.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification:

The ideal candidate would have an established teaching record in a STEM field, an applied understanding of educational psychology, student development and success, as well as knowledge of student learning outcomes, and a successful record of collaboration and innovation in higher education. A ideal candidate also has a background that includes university level teaching and three years or more of significant research in or practical experience with student development, students in transition, peer-learning, or in issues related to access, success, persistence, and affordability.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Preferred qualifications for the ideal candidate also include the ability to work in a transdisciplinary department and curriculum; willingness to engage a variety of service projects; evidence of excellent written, oral, and/or visual communication skills; and prior success designing, developing, and sustaining new curricula and/or co-curricular programs.
