TMPDescription of primary duties and responsibilities::
This position will report directly to the General Counsel and work is performed under the supervision of the General Counsel and Paralegal.
An employee in this position performs a variety of daily administrative activities. Employee will perform a wide variety of administrative support, secretarial, office management, and clerical duties. Work generally requires that the employee independently handle certain activities such as research. Duties require considerable tact and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential matters. Work may also include supporting interns and work study students and providing technical assistance to other clerical positions at the University.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::
Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge skills and abilities::
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Ability to follow complex instructions.
Ability to compose correspondence and reports.
Ability to proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.
Ability to gather and organize data and analyze said data in formulating conclusions and recommendations
Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations occurring as a result of workloads and/or deadlines.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 90% of the work time which occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain while organizing and doing multiple tasks
Ability to select and apply references such as dictionaries, English usage manuals, legal references, procedures manuals, and computer guides.
Ability to use diplomacy and discretion in giving out information and in referring and directing callers and visitors. Ability to transcribe documents from written, oral, or computer generated formats.
Ability to interpret instructions and guidelines in order to make decisions and take necessary actions. Ability to determine work priorities.
Ability to apply instructions and/or guidelines as appropriate in the performance of management support activities.
Knowledge of the application of instructions and guidelines to specific problems arising in the work area.
Skilled typing ability and knowledge of personal computers, hardware, software, and related applications and systems. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.Preferred Qualifications::
