The Department of Psychiatry of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time faculty member to fill the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Division of Adult Psychiatry. The incumbent will split time between Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry covering services such as outpatient psychiatry in SIU Psychiatry locations, partnering agencies and hospital services at St. Mary’s Hospital (Decatur, IL), Memorial Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital (Springfield, IL). The ability to provide ECT is desired. The incumbent will also be responsible for instruction of students, residents and other allied health professionals as well as participation in clinical and research services.

Qualified applicants will have an M.D. or D.O. degree, must have completed an ACGME approved residency training in general psychiatry and two years of training in child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship. Applicants must be board certified/eligible in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and maintain board certification. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois. Applicants should have sufficient experience in ECT or willing to undergo training to be privileged at teaching hospitals and must be trained or agree to be trained in TMS therapy. Applicants must have experience providing services to multicultural populations; experience dealing with underrepresented minority populations; and be sensitive to the needs of minority populations. This position has been designated as security sensitive and employment is contingent upon the result of a criminal background investigation.
