FINANCIAL ANALYST - Tickle College Of Engineering

Regular Full-time,  Market Range 12

The TCE Office of Finance and Administration at the University of Tennessee invites applications for a full time Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance & Administration, the Financial Analyst provides complex comparative analysis and support for financial, budgeting, planning and reporting activities for the Tickle College of Engineering (TCE).  The primary responsibilities of this position include budget development and implementation, continuous monitoring of actuals versus budget, variance analysis, proactively analyzing data for trends, running financial scenarios and gauging their impacts on TCE operations, standard monthly managerial reporting, reconciliations between systems, and ad hoc analysis and reporting.

The Financial Analyst will be the subject matter expert regarding use of the Adaptive Insights budgeting and forecasting tool for TCE and will be responsible for developing and managing the reporting capabilities of the tool.  This position will also be the primary point of contact for data gathering requests and analysis of the gathered data, including being able to identify and pull data from various sources such as IRIS, BW, OIRA, HR, Enrollment Management, Academic Unit Statistics, and others.  This position must maintain a thorough technical knowledge of all of university systems and how they interrelate in order to ensure the data integrity of the budget model.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or other closely related field from accredited institution

• 5 years of progressive finance or accounting experience including experience with financial analysis, budgeting, modeling, and the use of ERP and business intelligence software for data aggregation, analysis, budgeting, and modeling

• Possess exceptional computer and analytical skills with the ability to translate raw data into information and knowledge through the use of reports and graphical displays. 

• Knowledge of data warehouse methodologies, data modeling, and analytics. 

• Ability to identify risks associated with budget actions and determine the cause and effect of scenarios.

• Possess working knowledge of ERP software and the related data warehouse reporting component.

• Possess working knowledge of business intelligence software such as PowerBI, PowerQuery, Argos, Crystal Reports, or Tableau.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Possess organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

• Possess strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate financial data in an understandable way to college leadership, faculty and staff.

• Ability to manage projects and facilitate successful and timely completion.

• Ability to direct the work of others.

• Ability to self-direct work and be self-motivated.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or other closely related field from accredited institution

• Higher education experience

• 6-10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience including experience with financial analysis, budgeting, modeling, and the use of ERP and business intelligence software for data aggregation, analysis, budgeting, and modeling

• Experience with incentive-based budgeting models

• Supervisory experience

• An understanding of fund accounting and non-profit or governmental reporting

• Proficient with SAP

• Working knowledge of Workday Adaptive Planning
