This is an exempt position with a salary range of $45,357 to $50,828 per year. Remote work is not available for this role.

The Workers' Compensation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the management of the University's self-insured workers' compensation program system-wide and providing crucial support to various internal and external stakeholders related to the program. The Workers' Comp Coordinator plays a critical role in establishing procedures and facilitating decisions that balance employee coverage and cost-effectiveness for the University.

Duties and responsibilities of the Workers' Compensation Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for the oversight and day-to-day management of the University's workers' comp program, serving as liaison between the University's injured workers, third party administrator (TPA), treating physicians, and campus departments
  • Ensures University compliance with Federal/State OSHA record-keeping regulations and standards by independently completing/ maintaining monthly OSHA 300 logs, yearly OSHA 300A logs, and annual Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses for each campus location
  • Independently designs and conducts work comp training presentations to UT System supervisors upon request, via in-person or zoom training sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned
 



Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree and 2 years of workers' compensation insurance experience is required. Ten years' of experience may substitute in lieu of a degree. Senior-level experience in workers' compensation administration/management is needed. Knowledge of medical terminology, OSHA record-keeping, HIPAA, FMLA is also required, along with the ability to learn Tennessee workers' compensation laws and Division of Claims statutes and processes.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of audiences at all levels of the University
  • A strong sense of urgency and the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment
  • Training skills and the ability to clearly and effectively explain complicated processes to others
