Department Information The Center for Advanced Communications Policy (CACP) engages in several broad approaches to explore the impact of technology on society. A key overarching objective of CACP is to understand the social impact of digital technologies, domestically and internationally, by conducting objective, evidence-based research, analysis, and development.

Research activities range from foundational social science research, providing evidence-based input for policy formation and regulatory filings, to a applied policy research analysis and innovation studies to inform the development, implementation and adoption of a wide range of information and communication technologies. Lab-based studies focus on the intersection of technology and the user: accessibility and usability studies, user testing and human factors analysis, all of which help industry better understand the needs of a wide range of users, especially people with disabilities, the aging, and other vulnerable populations. Training and outreach efforts are designed to increase social awareness, disseminate best practices and facilitate collaboration between critical stakeholders.

CACP cultivates social, economic and inclusive - oriented perspectives on digital technologies at the intersection of society, inclusion and policy to address a range of stakeholder needs, ranging from increasing community participation through connectivity, to technologies for supporting work and employment. Center activities provide the foundation for the assessment and analysis of issues that inform our contribution to federal rulemaking, input into public sector policy-making processes, and generation of technical guidance for business and industry.

Job Summary Provide professional level support and project management services for divisional initiatives and projects. Lead the development, implementation, and execution of moderately difficult initiatives usually with a completion timeline of a year or less. Acts as an advisor to program teams regarding projects, plans, and operations. Perform specialized administrative support for projects and for the unit. This position will interact on a regular basis with: unit management and staff, department staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit and department staff. This position will supervise: N/A.

Responsibilities
    Lead and support a broad range of moderately difficult multi-functional projects and programs, including developing tools, resources, timelines, and other requirements, to ensure successful completion; conduct assessments, gather and interpret data, produce reports and provide solutions to successfully manage projectsInitiate and conduct assessments, collect data and benchmark studies to identify needs, gaps, improvements, and provide recommendations to management on issues and matters of significance related to projects, programs and future initiativesEstablish schedules, oversee arrangements and provide logistics support for projectsParticipate in the development and execution of program events; Coordinate and arrange meeting and project materials for distributionPrepare correspondence and reports which may include origination of first drafts and conducting related analyses and research on behalf of the unit executive or other unit staff; design, develop and edit project presentations, agendas, and other documentationTrack and present progress reports, proposals and related project related communicationsProvide specialized administrative support for assigned projects and unit, including coordinating the executive's calendar, meetings and event arrangementsInitiate and/or process HR related documentation including hiring packages, posting requests, schedules and reports, as requiredGather and coordinate dissemination of information regarding new or revised policies and procedures within unit, respond to inquiries regarding Institute and departmental policies and procedures; make referrals as appropriatePerform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Four to five years of job related experience

Master's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Six to more years of job related experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) Experience in a higher education environment

Other Information The Project Support Specialist Senior in the Center for Advanced Communications Policy will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

    Support a broad range multi-functional projects and programs, including developing tools, resources, timelines, and other requirements, to ensure successful completion; conduct assessments, gather and interpret data, produce reports and provide solutions to successfully manage projects.Advise the executive director on project and staffing needs, equipment needs, and assist in strategic planning.Gather and coordinate dissemination of information regarding new or revised policies and procedures within unit, respond to inquiries regarding Institute and departmental policies and procedures; make referrals as appropriate.Track unit performance metrics and create monthly progress reports for all projects.Create project related news items for dissemination on social media and other outlets.Initiate and conduct assessments, collect data and benchmark studies to identify needs, gaps, improvements, and provide recommendations to management on issues and matters of significance related to projects, programs and future initiatives.Establish and track project and proposal schedules, oversee arrangements and provide logistics support for projects.Maintain project records and notes from project meetings.Participate in the development and execution of project events; Coordinate and arrange meeting and project materials for distribution.Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports as needed. Contribute to the unit annual report.Prepare correspondence and reports which may include origination of first drafts and conducting related analyses and research on behalf of the unit executive or other unit staff; design, develop and edit project presentations, agendas, and other documentation.Track and present project and proposal updates, deliverables, and hiring progress.Perform literature reviews, research potential purchases, and obtain quotes from vendors.Perform other duties as assigned.The Center for Advanced Communications Policy (CACP) engages in several broad approaches to explore the impact of technology on society.
