Job Summary:
The Research Compliance Coordinator coordinates the activities of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). Assists Office of Research to maintain institutional compliance with all regulations pertaining to research involving human subjects, animals, infectious agents, and recombinant DNA. Applies federal and state regulations and university policies & procedures pertaining to research involving human subjects, animals, infectious agents, and recombinant DNA. Conducts initial review of research applications to determine the appropriate level of review and to assure compliance with applicable requirements. Reviews materials submitted to regulatory committees in accordance with applicable regulations. Coordinates committee matters with internal and external constituencies. Provides guidance to faculty, staff and students in preparation of proposal submission. Coordinates and performs data recording/record keeping operations. Regularly uses IRB Manager database software and Excel to track submissions. Monitors and tracks research-related training documentation for researchers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required:
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
-One (1) years of experience in compliance/research/program administration

Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge:
Basic understanding of regulations pertinent to human subjects research, animal research and biosafety (infectious agents and recombinant DNA). Proficient computer skills, which includes MS Office applications and database applications. Written and oral communication must routinely be clear and concise. Ability to communicate with a diverse audience of professionals and students. Team and customer-based performance. Must be reliable and detail oriented, possess superb organizational skills, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple tasks in an organized manner while carrying out tasks accurately. Ability to maintain professional standards under routine conditions of severe and non-negotiable time constraints.

Preferred:
-Any degree in science, such as chemical, biological, or animal science, where scientific method and research design are studied.
-Experience in higher education
-Knowledge of OSU-CHS University policies and procedures.
-Relevant professional experience in research administration and/or research compliance
-Prior professional experience with human subjects research, animal research, or IRB/IACUC/IBC administration, preferably in an academic setting
