Summary of Duties: The Early Childhood Program Specialist 2 (ECPS2) assists in implementing the educational curriculum and the general operation of an infant, toddler, preschool, or school age classroom.
Responsibilities include: maintaining a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment, assisting in children assessments, assisting in planning, implementing and evaluating children activities, assisting in directing student staff and volunteers, assisting with record keeping, assisting in maintaining a classroom environment that meets child care licensing and accreditation standards; assisting in evaluating student staff; modeling appropriate nurturing and communication skills with children; and participating actively and positively as a team member with all center staff members.
The ECPS2 may temporarily assume leadership of the classroom in the absence of the Early Childhood Program Specialist 3.
One year of experience in an early childhood program and thirty quarter credit hours in early childhood development/education/special education; OR equivalent education/experience.
Associates degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Development or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or any combination of comparable education and experience.
Background clearance and fingerprinting (if needed) upon hire.
Negative results of TB Skin Test upon hire.
HIV/Aids Bloodborne Pathogen Training upon hire.
Basic First Aid or Pediatric First Aid Certification upon hire.
Basic CPR and/or Infant/Child CPR certification upon hire.
Washington State Food Worker Card upon hire.
STARS 20hr Basic Training or a valid exemption within six (6) months of hire.
Two (2) years experience with children in a group child care setting.
Proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices interacting with young children.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills with parents, children and colleagues.
Experience which demonstrates flexibility in dealing with frequent changes and/or crises.
