Position SummaryUniversity Information Services (UIS) provides technical services and enterprise applications to the University of Colorado’s (CU) four campuses and the Office of the President. UIS is committed to excellence in customer service, technical expertise, and the development of enterprise applications responsible for supporting CU’s students, faculty, human resources employees, finance employees, and others.

The UIS Research and Grants (R&G) team works to support the core R&G and Electronic Research Administration (eRA) production applications.  Each of these services are continually enhanced through projects and service requests to ensure ongoing compliance and reliability of services. This group utilizes products and services from InfoEd and COGNOS as well as develops integrations between InfoEd, PeopleSoft Grants, and PeopleSoft HCM.  

The Senior eRA Developer creates user-friendly internet applications using rich front-end technologies along with the knowledge of these varying processes. Along with the development of specialized InfoEd software, this position also supports the highly specialized InfoEd software consisting of Pre-Award, Post-Award, Award Tracking, Human Subjects, and Conflict of Interest modules to support the University’s Pre-Award, Post Award, and Research Compliance needs.

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Finance Development and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports the unique needs of eRA stakeholders and end users by maintaining technical depth of understanding, fluency of the technical landscape, and related impacts to the business offices.
  • Provides alternative solutions and recommendations to complex problems and issues collaborating with the teams to decide on the best approach
  • Develops an understanding of the InfoEd data model
  • Supports UIS teams and campus module administrators understanding of the data model
  • Troubleshoots data issues and work with internal and vendor teams to identify root cause and resolution
  • Develops application expertise in the InfoEd Suite
  • Supports the identification of application issue versus other symptoms
  • Troubleshoots and escalate issues
  • Assists customers with application security requests
  • Performs data compare review of schema changes during upgrades and release cycles
  • Troubleshoots reported application issues and assist in the system testing of bug fixes and code releases supporting the InfoEd Suite
  • Ensures eRA ticket resolution process is followed by logging tickets, updating, and communicating status and closing tickets with adequate documentation and in a timely fashion in relation with technical issues.
  • Designs, develops, and support web applications, application programming interface (API) Services, and related Databases.
  • Serves as an expert resource in development and support of complex configurations involving XSLTs and JavaScript, building dashboards, widgets & forms, batch communications etc.
  • Troubleshoots & resolves technical issues, debugs/tunes/optimizes development object performance. 
  • Works closely with team members across services to provide front-end expertise in building solutions
  • Creates and executes test scripts to ensure that applications provide accurate results and meet the requirements of the customer
  • Helps produce and maintain technical documentation for all systems under the developer's responsibilities.
Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Supports the management of business processes, integrations, and reporting needs
  • Works closely with other technical teams to optimize system performance and monitor system usage
  • Participates in special projects, such as: implementing new modules and system integrations
  • Assists with application security requests
  • Acts as the secondary level of support for InfoEd including performing functional and regression testing as part of production cycles
  • Serves as a backup to other eRA team members during times of vacancy/absence
  • Creates knowledge transfer documentation and help train users and other technical and functional team members
  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned

  • eRA Enterprise (for all services using InfoEd): OnBase integration, PeopleSoft Finance and Human Resource module integrations.
Who we are:

System Administration, which also houses the Office of the President, is located in the uptown neighborhood of Denver with a few smaller offices located on the campuses.  However, this  position has the ability to work remotely. Many of our departments support the educational and research missions of the four University of Colorado campuses, but System Administration is not considered a campus. What we offer:

Salary: The anticipated hiring salary range has been established at $79,083 - $80,815.

The market salary range for this position is $79,083 - $107,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or anticipated hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from and accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)
  • Three (3) years’ experience supporting complex IT application configurations and integrations with any combination of the following:
    • Professional technical SQL query development experience
    • Reporting tools
    • Front end web development
    • Integration development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) years’ experience supporting complex IT application configurations and integrations, as indicated above
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Working in a large, complex research university with multiple campuses
    • Providing Technology Consulting and work with the InfoEd or other eRA systems
    • Using SQL and Oracle Solutions
    • Using scripting tools
    • Working with Microsoft server administration and IIS Manager
    • Software implementation or production support
    • Coordinating on complex issues requiring in-depth data analysis
    • Working with Microsoft Project, Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • The System Development Life Cycle
    • Serving customers in a technical role
    • Test Management and quality assurance (QA)
