Position Title: Strategic Services Associate, Perinatal/Psych Clinical Reviewer

Position: Full-time, monthly – exempt position

Department: Performance Services

Position Summary:
Contributes to the achievement of the hospital's mission through the clinical documentation review of perinatal care and psychiatric care and abstraction of data. The Clinical Reviewer's chief responsibility is to abstract, analyze and submit reliable data for The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation program. This is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation, and entry into the core measures database of all eligible patients for the hospital. The Clinical Reviewer assures continued compliance with TJC and CMS policies and standards through monitoring activities and the use of data, and implementation of strategies to enhance compliance.

Work Performed:

  • Work closely with the staff of Pediatric and Psychiatry departments to identify opportunities for improved performance with compliance to CMS and TJC standards
  • Collect, analyze, and submit reliable data to Medisolv as prescribed by the program
  • Responsible for accurate and timely data transmission to meet caseload accrual as outlined in the submission calendar
  • Serve as the expert resource on performance improvement and compliance as it relates to the organizational role
  • Communicate missed opportunities to customers for a review of occurrences
  • Identify streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process
  • Establish effective working relationships with members of the hospital community, Perinatal/Psychiatry departments, Nursing, Medical Records, and DHTS
  • Analyze quality data to identify adverse trends and/or undesirable hospital performance; identify opportunities/recommendations for improvement.
  • Design and implement strategies for enhancing compliance
  • Develop reports and communicate improvement strategies to hospital-based multidisciplinary peer review committees
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of strategies through sustained monitoring of performance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Maintain working knowledge of Medisolv ENCOR software

Experience working with patients

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to communicate with customers/staff with diverse educational backgrounds

Analysis of data and processes for opportunities for improvement

Ability to manage numerous diverse projects simultaneously through effective priority setting, efficient use of time, organization

Basic statistical knowledge

Attention to detail and accuracy

Self-direction; acceptance of responsibility for work

Computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint, Databases)

Required Qualifications at this Level


Bachelor’s degree in a business or health-related field is required.


Minimum of 5 years work experience, including 3 years of experience with significant responsibility for performance/ process improvement. Experience leading work teams required.

Experience can be supplemented with a Master's degree with a Masters being equivalent to two years of experience.
