$19.20 hr/G2-M2Job Summary:
Performs complex repair or construction of university facilities or property which require specialized training in a skilled trade; Building Automation Systems and Retro-commissioning/HVAC Controls. Typical hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.Duties/Physical Demands:
Reviews job orders and blueprints or drawings; inspects site and consults with client; determines best method to complete project.
Estimates amount of materials and equipment needed to complete project; prepares cost estimates; arranges for materials to be at job site.
Performs complex repair or installation on University facilities and property using expertise acquired through specialized training in a skilled trade.
Serve as informational resource to other staff.
Maintains and cleans tools and equipment; maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
May serve as liaison to outside contractors and other departments; may prepare some paperwork; may maintain some files
Requires nine months training beyond high school in a skilled trade and three years of experience in that trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Driver's license required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the procedures and equipment of a particular skilled trade
Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or mechanical diagrams
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Frequent standing and walking with some climbing and lifting of materials weighing 50 to 75 pounds. Frequent operation of equipment. Somewhat unpleasant working conditions. Some exposure to several unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable. Some element of personal risk and exposure to accidents.Special Instructions to Applicants:
