Position Description:
Reporting to the Director of Entrepreneurship and Commercialization at the UCLA California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI), the Business and Operations Specialist will be responsible for program administration for Magnify, CNSI's startup incubator. The Specialist will also be responsible for managing and overseeing operational/process improvement projects as assigned by the Director.

As Business and Operations Specialist for Magnify, the position will take part in complex interactions among inventors, entrepreneurs, senior-level officers, faculty and other internal/external stakeholders to accomplish its mission to accelerate the growth and success of transformative technology startup companies. These efforts will include: optimizing operational efficiencies for incubator administration, curating resources to advance technology development and commercialization of portfolio companies, and promoting the mission of the incubator to potential partners, advisors and clients. Continued program development and the tracking of metrics related to the incubator are also important components of this position. The Specialist will, along with the Director and team members, ensure that all portfolio company activities and use of space are in compliance with University policies and procedures.

The Business and Operations Specialist must be customer-service oriented, as s/he will serve as a key interface between the incubator, UCLA Real Estate, other relevant campus departments, companies and entrepreneurs. This fast-paced job will require excellent relationships with Magnify companies, and a working understanding of the world of academic research and the technology transfer process. The incumbent must have the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities of the incubator.
