Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President and Registrar, provide leadership and strategic vision for the use of technology in Academic Services. Serve as liaison and primary resource for all technological functions within the department, including their interdependence with university wide systems. Supervise the Degree Audit Specialist position.

Representative Duties:
Provide leadership and vision for the uses of technology within all areas of Academic Services. E
Research and develop new approaches to current technical processes to improve data accuracy, integrity and service. E
Develop and monitor data integrity standards for all student-related data in Academic Services. E
Recommend and implement plans for automation of processes as determined by research. E
Research and make recommendations on the use of Colleague, Accommodate, Perceptive Content, Slate, Courseleaf, Power BI, and other related software applications. E
Collaborate with ITS regarding software updates, configuration and customizations to applicable systems. E
Create, maintain, and publish the University Catalog. E
Maintain, distribute and publicize the Academic Calendar according to established rules. E
Develop and maintain the program evaluation in Colleague. E
Responsible for submission of data to the National Student Clearinghouse and related compliance issues. E
Investigate data accuracy and integrity issues, and recommend solutions for prevention. E
Produce reports and aggregated data as requested by University officials and members of all Academic Services departments. E
Provide documentation and training on technology and related processes to all applicable staff. E
Represent Academic Services as a member of the University’s Data Integrity and Decision Group (DIDG). E
Perform special projects and related duties as assigned.
E = Essential Duties

Knowledge Of:
Academic policies and procedures, including graduation requirements.
Registrar’s policies and procedures.
University curriculum or subject matter.
Translating manual processes to computer assisted or automated processes.
Programing and reporting in SQL
Student system in Colleague and other major software systems utilized by Academic Services
Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities, including FERPA, GDPR, and University mission, goals and objectives.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and their impact on student success.
Current database technologies and architectures and their uses.
Best practices for implementing and enforcing data management and security standards.
Proficiency with tools and techniques of manipulating single and multiple large datasets.
Operation of a computer and data entry techniques.
Record-keeping techniques.
Good customer service skills, which includes interpersonal skills, using tact, patience and courtesy and telephone techniques and etiquette.
Principles and practices of supervision and training.
Oral and written communication skills.

Ability To:
Oversee the day-to-day processing of academic record transactions in the Registrar’s Office.
Make recommendations for changes in academic policy and academic records procedures.
Perform graduation audits to determine eligibility for awarding degrees.
Identify and analayze data-related and procedural challenges, make recommendations, and implement technology solutions.
Apply best practices in data integrity, quality management and process automation.
Practice confidentiality and professionalism in all modes of communication
Evaluate, solve problems, and adopt an effective course of action
Make interpretive judgments quickly and accurately regarding academic matters
Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
Work with a diverse student population.
Analyze a situation and adopt an effective course of action.
Learn, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Operate a computer and related computer software.
Oversee the preparation of statistical reports.
Analyze problems, develop new systems and procedures.
Maintain records and prepare reports.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Work independently with little direction.
Plan and organize work.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in information technology, information management, education, higher education or related field and three years of progressively responsible experience managing and/or supporting the operationalization of technology

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in information systems, information management, information technology, technology in education and five years of progressively experience in technology in higher education. Knowledge and experience with SQL and Colleague
