                 Dean of Applied Programs, Student Success and Innovation


The founding Dean of Applied Programs, Student Success and Innovation will be responsible for defining the strategic direction, long-range planning, and implementation of the occupational applied programs, including partnerships with business and industry for the newest community college in Pennsylvania, the Erie County Community College of Pennsylvania. Master’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.

The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs of the college.  During the initial stage of the college, this position will report to the Interim President and serve on the cabinet. The incumbent is responsible for performing all duties related to establishing the applied program, workforce initiatives with business and industry in an effective and efficient manner and working closely with her key administrators.  The College seeks an individual with a philosophy of higher education that is compatible with the mission of Erie County Community College of Pennsylvania.


  • Designs and implements new programs in response to identified workforce regional community needs and leads the development of curriculum.
  • Fosters a student-centered educational environment responsive to diverse learner needs; promotes instructional innovation and supports professional development.
  • Coordinates the sequencing of applied programs and scheduling of courses for assigned disciplines across the college; monitors student enrollment and adjusts credit schedule accordingly. 
  • Directs classroom scheduling and faculty assignments.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with business and industry partners, community organizations and educational institutions; proactively promotes innovative partnerships to meet workforce needs.  
  • Facilitates the preparation of short-and long-term plans and collaborates with other deans, faculty, staff, and administrators in support of the college’s mission and strategic goals and seeking institutional accreditation.
  • Oversees the process for accredited allied and technology programs.  
  • Directs and monitors the development, implementation, maintenance, delivery and integrity of curriculum.
  • Directs and supports college-wide discipline assessment and the development of program reviews.
  • Creates budget development for the division. 
  • Addresses academic, personnel, and curriculum concerns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.    


  • Doctor degree preferred, Master’s Degree and college teaching experience in a workforce related field required. 
  • Five years of experience working in a higher education setting at a community college, providing academic leadership preferred.
  • Experience working in highly diverse settings, both rural and urban communities.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of organizational skill, meticulous in detail.
  • Excellent written communication and oral expression.
  • Must espouse a collaborative work ethic.
