The Lebanese American University Gilbert & Rose Marie Chagoury School of Medicine (SOM) is recruiting a Chair for the Department of Surgery to lead the department forward into the next phase of its growth.

The Department of Surgery encompasses the divisions of General Surgery, Urology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Surgical Oncology/Hepatobiliary Surgery. The Chair has the opportunity to shape the future direction of the department with the development of programs of excellence and with new faculty recruitment. This will be in line with the SOM mission, vision and strategy of growth with the opening of LAUMC – St. John’s Hospital in Jounieh and major expansion and renovation of LAUMC – Rizk Hospital.  

The candidate should have completed surgical training in any of the above listed sub-specialties with strong preference for American or European board certification or equivalent such as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. The successful candidate must have leadership and administrative skills and experience. He or she must have a strong interest in developing a strong academic leadership career and will be expected to oversee the surgical residency training programs, medical student surgical education and clinical research programs.
