Position Highlights:

The Department of German Studies at the University of Arizona invites applications for a lecturer position, beginning August 2021. This position will teach general education courses and upper-level language, literature, and culture courses for German majors and minors. This is a year-to-year appointment renewable for up to 1 year contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teaching three courses each semester, including general education courses and upper-level language, literature, and culture courses for German majors and minors
  • Holding office hours
  • Actively recruiting German majors
  • Actively involved in curriculum and program discussions and processes
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in German Studies or related field by August 2021
  • Native or near-native fluency in German andEnglish is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in German-language literature and culture since 1800
  • Experience with both online and face-to-face instruction
  • Experience working with language learning and teaching methods, and innovations in teaching undergraduate majors and minors in German Studies
