Equestrian Assistant DirectorSalary/Grade:
$36,000 - $40,000Hours Per Week:
Responsible for the basic administration of all operational and programming aspects of the equestrian facilities and care of the horses This position has significant responsibility to ensure the health and well being of all staff and patrons due to the unique nature of programming with large animals. Also serves to provide facility coverage, and supervision of special events as needed.
• Instruct competitive collegiate equestrian athletes.
• Instruct academic classes and keep records for final grade submission
• Implementation of medical treatment and continued special care for horses as needed.
• Assist with event coverage and management
• Supervision of 10-15 student barn staff
• Responsible for the facilitating of clipping, mane pulling, and other show-grooming and maintenance of horses.
• Developing and directing community programs, horse shows, and summer programs
• Assist with the training and preparation of horses for lessons
• Bachelor Degree
• 3 years related experience
• CPR and First Aid Certification within the first 90 days
• Master’s Degree
• Experience with IHSA/IDA/IEA and collegiate competitions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Candidate must be able to work independently, be detail-oriented, have a firm understanding of collegiate riding, strong teaching ability, possess excellent communication and customer service skills, function well in a team setting, and show motivation to grow skills through professional development / certifications.
