Position Summary:

The Statewide AHEC Nursing Liaison is the School of Nursing’s representative to the North Carolina AHEC Program, and provides consultation, guidance, and strategic planning assistance on the nursing profession to the AHEC Program and, through AHEC, across the state of North Carolina (NC). Under the direction of the AHEC Associate Director for Nursing and with the AHEC Senior Advisor on the Nursing Workforce, s/he also liaisons across the State’s nine regional AHECs and the AHEC Nurse Council and others in matters that impact the state’s nursing workforce. S/he promotes continuing communication and cooperation for statewide dissemination of intra and interprofessional educational endeavors to ensure coordination, resource planning and sustainability of state-wide health workforce initiatives.

The Statewide AHEC Nursing Liaison reports to the School of Nursing’s Dean or the Dean’s designate. S/he has a collaborative relationship with the UNC- Chapel Hill School of Nursing, the AHEC Program Office, the AHEC Senior Advisor on the Nursing Workforce as well as the faculty and staff in the nine regional AHECs. The Statewide AHEC Nursing Liaison is a member of the School of Nursing’s Administrative Dean’s group and works closely with Associate Academic Deans to identify faculty resources needed to offer continuing education and provide technical assistance to AHEC regions.

The Statewide AHEC Nursing Liaison focuses exclusively on supporting the AHEC program. S/he serves as the primary interface with the School for all AHEC matters and ensures the work in the Annual Work Statement between the AHEC Program and the School of Nursing is performed satisfactorily. S/he focuses primarily on three strategic goals centered on the workforce in addition to other issues/projects that may arise in response to state needs or crises, e.g., the coronavirus pandemic. S/he collaboratively works with the School of Nursing AHEC Senior Advisor on the Nursing Workforce to advise and support AHEC’s work, promote growth of the nursing workforce, and build capacity of the workforce across North Carolina.

Educational Requirements:

The selected candidate should have a doctoral degree in nursing (PhD, DNP) and an unrestricted RN license in North Carolina or compact state

Qualifications and Experience:

The selected candidate should have experience with workforce Development, Leadership of work teams (e.g., grant PI or project director; QI Teams), Grant-writing experience, Project management experience (Including familiarity with software) and Research or QI experience
