Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) plus 1 years specialized or technical training in the area of responsibility; and 5 years related experience.

Purpose of Job:

Under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor. The Electrical Helper is responsible for assisting the electricians with the installation and maintenance of the electrical and power systems of the university.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Performs the duties normally required of an Electrical Helper and operations personnel. Follows recognized procedures and techniques to safely perform duties in helping to repair, replace and/or install machinery and equipment.

Essential Job Functions :

•Assist in the installation of sound systems, security systems, and voice systems.
•Assist in the installation of lighting, electrical outlets, and circuit breakers.
•Assist in threading conduit ends and connect couplings and conduit fittings using wrench.
•Assist in the installation of appliances for power.


•High school diploma or GED, Trade or technical school diploma.
•Knowledge of electrical principles.
•Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Licensing and Certifications :


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

•Ability to use tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, and wire strippers.
•Ability to work within the overall organization of Facilities Management and work with skilled and unskilled personnel and administrators.
•Must possess good oral and written communication skills and be able to follow oral and written instructions.
•Ability to express ideas effectively and concisely.
•Must be willing to seek training to enhance or learn new skills.
•Must be accessible and available in the event of emergencies or when needed to meet the ongoing missions of the University.
