Job Description

The individual in this position will participate in switchgrass experiments designed to characterize a panel of diverse ecotypes and study the physiology and genomics of adaptation to different environments. Key responsibilities of this position will include the collection of data from field experiments, maintenance of plant populations in the field, processing of field samples in the lab, greenhouse work, and data entry and curation. The individual will use a variety of scientific instruments to collect data from field experiments and analyze samples. A key component of the position will be close collaboration and coordination across multiple field experiment locations. The individual in this position will work closely and cooperate with staff, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students of MU’s Crop Physiology program.


Salary: $11.54 to $19.76 per hour

Grade: GGS-005

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

A BS degree in agronomy, crop science or related field and previous experience with field research is preferred along with an independent, organized and motivated individual with demonstrated research skills, and a valid driver’s license.
Experience including with plant propagation, field plot establishment and maintenance, plant physiological measurements, sample preparation, and use of agricultural field equipment are also desired.
