The Social Media Intern will be a highly motivated, creative individual with experience in community building via online social media platforms. The Social Media Intern will assist IEDE’s Program Coordinator in designing original, relevant, and high-quality content for distribution across all social media channels. The Social Media Intern will have an opportunity to help shape the social media strategy for the office with the purpose of enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across campus. This is a short-term paid position (approximately four-months), with the possibility of extension. The position is currently remote, though the intern will be expected to work on-campus in the IEDE office after the University returns to normal operations. The Social Media Intern is expected to work approximately 15 hours/week and to have reliable access to the internet and Zoom, as well as all relevant social media platforms.
Candidates are asked to submit up to four samples of original work (graphic and text) intended for social media distribution. These samples may be designed for any platform and should highlight the candidate’s strengths.
-Design engaging content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
-Create polls, surveys, and other interactive materials
-Work alongside a team to create a social media strategy
-Identify and recommend online social media trends
-Ability to be self-directed
-Experience using digital publishing to generate traffic and engagement; Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
-Interact with followers by communicating and answering questions through the office’s social media channels
-Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion topics
-Serve as co-host for technical assistance during live social media events
-Track and record social media metrics
