Position Summary

The Workforce Training Coordinator is responsible for researching, planning, coordinating, implementing, and assessing workforce and talent development programs and workshops that meet the needs of the Community in the College District, including the development and coordination of the College's new Marine Maintenance Technology program, and other academic programs as identified to meet the needs of students and our communities.

The Coordinator performs a variety of duties including curriculum development, program planning, student recruitment and support, collaboration with community partners, and supervision of part-time non-credit instructors. The position is located at the Coconino Community College Page Center, near the second largest man-made reservoir in the country, Lake Powell. This position requires a positive and collaborative “can-do” work attitude with the ability to support the mission of the college by serving students and the community along with colleagues who have a passion for the Community College. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, execute, and grow workforce development courses and programs that support labor market needs, as well as aligning with Coconino Community College’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Coordinates the development of the new Marine Maintenance Technology program.
  • Communicates with local business and industry partners to develop relevant workforce-training solutions; serves as a liaison championing a positive relationship be community businesses/organizations and CCC.
  • Serves as a point of contact at the institution for students enrolled in or seeking information about non-credit or workforce training classes.
  • Supports college marketing and promotion initiatives to increase enrollment in courses, including developing a comprehensive promotional and student recruitment plan for new programs.
  • Coordinates regular collaborative discussions with Extended Learning and CCC staff to implement non-credit classes within the district.
  • Assists with instructor hiring and assignment processes in coordination with Executive Director of Extended Learning, CTE Dean, Human Resources, the Business Office, Registration, and Academic Affairs.
  • Reviews, monitors, and tracks enrollment trends to recommend class additions or cancellations to Executive Director of Extended Learning.
  • Assesses course effectiveness utilizing evaluation tools.
  • Assists in monitoring budgetary expenditures, human and fiscal resource allocation and other related activities. Also includes writing and monitoring related contracts and grants.
  • Directs and organizes systematic curriculum and program assessment and evaluation activities according to accreditation and college standards; initiates changes, additions or deletions as needed.
  • Works closely with advisory and industry partners on program and curriculum development and cooperative education and internship options.
  • Works closely with agencies that provide industry certifications and training to develop partnerships and contractual agreements; such as, American Boat & Yacht Council, US Coast Guard, National Apartment Association, and marine technology manufacturers.
  • Assists students with program advising and course registration, including review of transfer work.
  • Assists with reception area coverage, including main phone line, supports community events and provides service to students and visitors as needed.
  • Represents the program at college, state and national events.
  • Fosters an environment of creativity and support and is a champion of a positive workplace and student experience.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three years of directly related work experience; or any combination of equivalent education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job and/or as approved by the Human Resources department.

    Preferred
    Master’s degree in Education or related field. At least one year of related experience in higher education, preferably at the community college level. Some teaching experience and familiarity with classroom teaching. Experience working in Human Resources or performing Human Resources functions (such as screening personnel, providing new hire training, etc.). Experience using software and communication systems such as NeoGov, Banner, CourseStorm, and Zoom. Experience working with a diverse student population.
