Housing Custodian

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position with benefits of Housing Custodian (Building/Grounds Specialist II) in University Housing.

Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing assigned restroom facilities; cleaning all surfaces and items in assigned areas; maintaining flooring in designated areas; removing trash and recyclables; assisting team with cleaning/turn-over of all rooms in between occupancy, including Fall Check-in, Winter Break and Spring Move-out; cleaning for summer conferences and orientations; maintaining equipment and reporting maintenance and supply needs; stocking and maintaining supply carts and closets; and providing exceptional customer service to all constituents.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least six (6) months of experience in custodial field are required. Additionally, a successful candidate should possess: ability to deal courteously with the public and students; ability to work independently and supervise student employees; knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings; knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures preferred; and ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Must be able to perform constant, intense physical labor; regularly move & use equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform duties requiring push/pull activity, hand/finger coordination, constant repetitive motion of wrist, arm & shoulder; reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, & kneel; work with chemicals, dust, fumes and odors associated with custodial work. Ability to inventory, order and maintain supplies as needed. Must be able to wear safety and protective equipment as needed.
Must be able to work overtime; before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc. Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Must successfully pass background check.
