Director, Fellowship AdvisingHonors Program

Location: New Orleans, LA


The Director of Fellowship Advising provides leadership for Fellowship Advising at Tulane; identifies, recruits, mentors and advises candidates for nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships; and expands the profile and reach of the office on campus. The Director reports to the Newcomb-Tulane College Senior Associate Dean for Advising, Career and Athletic Academic Service and Summer School, and works closely with campus partners such as Academic Advising, Career Services, Office of Study Abroad, Center for Academic Equity, Office of Undergraduate Research, and specialized undergraduate Scholar cohorts like Newcomb Scholars and the Altman Program. The Director works closely with faculty, staff, and administrators at Newcomb-Tulane College and at the individual schools to recruit a strong, inclusive and diverse pool of applicants for awards. The Director advances Newcomb-Tulane College's core mission of fostering an outstanding academic experience for undergraduates by raising the profile of the Office of Fellowship Advising and promoting fellowship opportunities widely. The Director is well-informed and up-to-date with best practices and policies in the field. The Director serves as the institutional representative for Tulane University to the organizations and foundations that award nationally and internationally competitive scholarships. The Director represents Tulane nationally as a member of National Association of Fellowships Advisors (NAFA).

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in liberal arts or science field
  • No less than 5 years of teaching, program administration or academic advising experience at the university level
  • Experience coordinating the fellowships process and/or experience advising students for nationally competitive scholarships like the Fulbright, Goldwater, Marshall, Rhodes and Truman Scholarships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree, such as a PhD
