Advertised Job Summary:

Coordinates all signage programs associated with one or more projects with varying degrees of complexity for USC Columbia and satellite campuses by scheduling and attending meetings with architects, contractors, department heads, project managers and staff for renovations and new construction; designing internal and external signs based on customer requests, aesthetics, and University & ADA standards; communicating with Project team members, Architects and Contractors regarding updates procurement, scheduling, funding, logistics and planning of signage for all projects; plan and implement standard and special signage needs; monitoring contractual commitments to assure performance of work and University acceptance of completed work; and preparing written reports and oral communication for presentations. The signage coordinator works with the Department of Accessibility ensuring signage has braille for visually impaired persons, enforces signage height codes for wheel chair bound individuals, directional signage for building access (i.e. wheel chair ramps), HC parking space designation, directional signage for accessible restrooms, etc.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):

Master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree and 2 years related program experience.

Drivers License required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies for new construction, renovations and signage. Familiar with project management and signage software. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Corel, Photoshop, AutoCad and FAMIS or similar system. Project manager terminology. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion for standard signage and what is appropriate for our facilities. Ability to establish and maintain a good and effective working relationship with Architects, Contractors, Project Managers, Faculty, Staff and Vendors. Ability to interpret and apply ADA Laws, regulations and policies and procedures. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbally and written. Superior customer service skills required. Occasional travel is required to branch campuses to provide signage services.
