Senior Clinical Financial Analyst🔍School of Medicine, Redwood City, California, United States📁Finance📅Apr 22, 2021 Post Date📅89279 Requisition #The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a collegial and team oriented dynamic Senior Clinical Financial Analyst to provide financial analysis and reporting for the Department’s Adult Division clinical activities. This involves gathering data and preparation of well-defined and customized financial reports including annual and monthly clinical revenue/expenses and projections, clinical productivity review including analysis of clinical billing and WRVU performance compared to expected targets and industry standards, as well as variance analyses. The Senior Clinical Financial Analyst will produce a wide range of reports and presentation materials to inform decision-making by division chiefs and other departmental leadership. A key expectation is that the Senior Clinical Financial Analyst stays curious and takes the extra steps to really analyze, understand and summarize conclusions about what is going on with the groups. The Senior Clinical Financial Analyst may assist with the clinical budget preparation and will perform special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance and Clinical Operations including planning and implementing future administrative financial procedures and systems. In addition, the Senior Clinical Financial Analyst will provide financial oversight for an assigned portfolio of division funds including designated clinical, designated income, gift, endowment funds, grants and contracts. The Senior Clinical Financial Analyst will reconcile account statements for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies in compliance with University and sponsor policies and regulations.Duties include:
• Perform and design ad hoc analyses of large complex data sets: reconcile complex accounts. Identify and resolve complex issues which may span multiple areas.
• Construct and assemble data for budgeting and decision making; develop conclusions, and present high level summary of recommendations. May develop annual budget for individual department/unit.
• Conduct analysis and resolution, and recognize exceptions. Participate in developing solutions that may require policy changes or the development of new processes; maintain broader organizational perspective in decision making.
• Execute internal control programs established by management, research new regulations, and recommend and implement approved changes. May manage compliance program for area of responsibility, and create complex compliance reports.
• Develop Division, Section and Clinic level reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics for management and third parties.
• Participate as a member of a project team; support new initiatives. Make decisions determining approach to managing and completing processes.
• Contribute to unit and organization strategy; assist in the development of change management plans and materials as needed.
• Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process documentation for area of responsibility.
• Define requirements, develop and implement complex test cases, perform system testing and analyze results.
• Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes, and identify opportunities for process improvement.* - Other duties may also be assigned
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
• Understanding of wRVU accounting, hospital fund flows, and the operations of a medical school.
• Knowledge and experience with Stanford’s Oracle financial systems and applicable policies and procedures.
• Knowledge and experience with Stanford’s OBI financial reporting tools and TideMark.
• Exceptional quantitative and financial analytical skills, especially with financial projections and forecasting.
• Expertise in institutional accounting systems, databases, data extraction methods, and report presentation.
• Collegial and independent; with demonstrated ability to gain the respect of team members, faculty and other staff, influence people of varying levels of authority in multiple organizations, and elicit cooperation with little supervision.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):Bachelor’s degree and six years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):• Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel (pivot tables and graphing).
• Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems; internet and computer literacy.
• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences and client groups.
• Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute to or lead part of a multi-functional team. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:• Constantly sitting.
• Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork.
• Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry objects weighing 11-20 pounds.
