Stanford Live is Stanford University’s professional performing arts presenter. With its main home in Bing Concert Hall and landmark venues across campus—including Frost Amphitheater—Stanford Live presents a wide range of the finest performances from around the world fostering a vibrant learning community and providing distinctive experiences through the performing arts.


As Front of House Manager, you will work closely with the Director of Operations to deliver an excellent patron services experience to guests at Stanford Live events.


  • Serving as manager on duty for all Stanford Live Events at Bing Concert Hall, Frost Amphitheater, and other Stanford Live events.
  • Hiring, onboarding, and managing all usher staff for Stanford Live.
  • Scheduling all Stanford Live events with paid and volunteer usher staff
  • Coordinating and implementing all COVID-19 compliant operations procedures with Director of Operations.
  • Leading House Labor for the setup, execution and take down of all venue related installations.
  • Acting as a main point of contact for patron issues
  • Implementing crowd management practices to ensure safe and efficient flow of patrons.
  • Works with Director of Operations at Frost and Operations Manager to make staffing calls for security, house labor, janitorial etc.
  • Responsible for post-show event reporting and works with Director of Operations to make changes on a show-by-show basis.
  • Any other responsibility as it pertains to the safe and patron-friendly experience at Frost.
  • Attend security meeting briefings before each show with Director of Operations.
  • Become familiar with Emergency and Safety Protocols as they relate to events at all Stanford Live venues
  • Other duties may also be assigned as they relate to the operation of a large public event.


Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and

relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service experience and a proven ability to meet performance standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to learn policies and procedures and correctly provide that information to customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.

  • Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.


  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally kneel/crawl, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, and grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21-30 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license and drive day or night.
