As the Guest Services Manager for Student Activity Center and Venue Management, this position is one of the primary points of contact with guests and student staff and as such, is responsible for providing a high quality experience for all. He/she hires, trains, motivates, and supervises 40+ students annually to provide superior customer service, control access, and to oversee daily activity in the facility. S/he serves as the administrator on duty during (non-event) evening hours. This position is a mandatory employee during adverse weather or emergency events.Minimum Education/Experience:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or office management experience in the student services or related field; or equivalent.

—Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate large number of student staff and one SHRA staff.
—Oversee facility use and access, including providing evening and weekend supervision as needed.
—Complete staff scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage for all operating hours of the Student Activity Center and student event staff coverage.
—Provide event support.
—Ensure safety and security of guests, staff, and facilities.
—Provide excellent customer service.
—Develop and maintain strong working relationships with University Departments including University Recreation, Athletics, Conference Services, Dining Services, and other departments
—Engage in the success of all team members.
—Complete monthly payroll for student employees, tracking expenses to ensure annual expenditures are consistent with approved budget.
—Develop and update facility and risk management policies for SAC and Venue Management.
—Develop and update Emergency Response and Evacuation plans for both daily and event operations.
—Maintain flexible schedule due to facility needs and event schedule.
Master’s degree in higher education or event management.
Three to five years of experience in the area of Student Affairs, event management, or other related field
Experience with the hiring, training, and managing of student staff and interns
Demonstrated ability to operate in a work environment with limited supervision and to function in an independent manner.
Experience/knowledge in ADA, building codes, and/or crowd management
Strong background in customer service, safety, and student environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with, supervise, and lead a diverse population.
Position requires patience and adaptability to frequent changes due to event and facility schedule.Work Location:
