Summary of Duties:
The Administrative Assistant performs complex secretarial and administrative duties in support of the School of Information in the College of Arts and Sciences. The incumbent will manage the Director’s calendars, serve as the office administrator for programs within the School, and works closely with the finance/budget team. This position is responsible for serving as the primary point of contact and has frequent contact with faculty, staff, students, and internal and external constituents; maintaining program emails, acting as a faculty liaison, collecting course materials and evaluations, responsible for course scheduling, and event coordination for all events within the School.
One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1 OR a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or closely allied field and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher. Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Demonstrated experience effectively handling confidential and sensitive information.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Experience providing administrative oversight and assistance to a senior administrator preferable in a higher education environment.
Experience using SharePoint.
Knowledge of Washington State University including experience with university policies and procedures.
Professional working experience in higher education.
Experience with course scheduling or managing similar complex schedules.
