Detailed Description:

The Academic Technologies Coordinator for the School of Business collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to effectively integrate the use of technology into curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular learning. The Coordinator is tasked with administering the design, development, implementation, and reporting of digitally mediated content and supporting technology within the School of Business. The Coordinator will provide on-going training and support to all School of Business constituents in order to enhance the learning experience in online, hybrid, and traditional delivery methods. The Coordinator should have a general understanding of academic goals and pedagogy as well as promote the awareness of new technological opportunities available for the School of Business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Technology Support

  • Ensuring smooth operations, automated processes and procedures, and taking necessary measures to ensure data integrity, reliability and internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Provide School of Business constituents with level one troubleshooting and problem-solving services for academic technologies.
  • Contribute and maintain learning system databases and support queue.
  • Maintain and develop the departments resource and support website (i.e. WordPress...).
  • Help support non-academic departments with technological needs as directed. ● Serve as a support liaison between The School of Business and: (1) students, (2) USD administrators and staff, (3) vendors, (4) and faculty.

Technology Implementation and Reporting

  • Maintain and administer the School’s academic portfolio within the University’s and School of Business’ learning management technologies.
  • Monitor, track, and report the School’s academic technology usage.
  • Administer LMS and other retention usage reports.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot in-classroom, online, and laboratory technologies that support faculty instruction.
  • Inventory and track School of Business academic technology equipment and supplies (digital video camera and tapes, laptops, iPads).
  • Maintain and inventory instructional technologies used by school personnel to improve the learning experience.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Instructional Design and Technology on implementing the School of Business Technology Master Plan.

Technology Design and Development

  • Collaborate with faculty, chairs, and program directors to provide development services in the School’s learning technologies, this includes coordinating technology needs, course roll over and setup, syllabi editing services, course material design, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with faculty and staff on compliance with institutional standards, universal learning guidelines, and accessibility best practices in their instructional framework design.
  • Assist faculty and staff with leveraging various learning theories (e.g. active learning, collaborative learning, and social learning) with instructional technologies in their curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular instruction.
  • Collaborate with the University’s central campus departments including but not limited to Information Technology, Learning Design Center, and the Center for Educational Excellence, in order to support and train School of Business constituents in their technological and pedagogical needs.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with preference given to computer science, information technology and/or related field
● 2 years of experience in information technology and/or academic/program support
or
● High school diploma
● Four years of relevant experience in designing, managing and/or supporting online courses

Preferred Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology and/or related field from an accredited college or university
● 3+ years of experience in higher education online learning and/or technology support

Performance Expectations - Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of and experience with:
● Blackboard Learning Management system or similar LMS, and associated tools is required.
● Web-based technologies, Adobe Creative Cloud, WordPress, Zoom, and Adobe Collaborate or other similar programs.
● Management of a project and database management system.
● MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

● Must be responsive, service-oriented, reliable, and exercise great attention to detail.
● Creative, innovative, and passionate about education and technology

● Must be able to work independently, taking initiative and setting priorities with multiple projects.
● Experience in editing documents (reports, syllabi, newsletters, etc.)
● Works independently to prioritize work and complete projects in a timely manner.
● Demonstrated capability and interest in learning new media production technologies, computer-aided design systems, and academic software applications.

Tools & Equipment Used:

Computer (including e-mail, Internet, and Microsoft Office programs), scanner, telephone, fax, photocopier, CD/DVD burner, Webcams, recording devices, USB headsets, and other related office and technology equipment.
