Job Summary
In conjunction with the Counseling Center Practicum Coordinator, oversee the Armstrong Campus Counseling Center practicum program. Provide direct mental health services to students, outreach programming and professional training to the Georgia Southern community on mental health issues, mental health training and supervision to Counseling Center trainees, and consultations to faculty and staff regarding college student mental health.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintenance of relevant center accreditations
  • Provide outreach programming and consultations to campus community
  • Maintain all relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice for Professional Counselors or Social Workers (as relevant to credentials) in the State of Georgia
  • Maintain licensure as a Psychologist in the state of Georgia
  • Coordinate one or more areas of Counseling Center service as requested by Executive Director
  • Maintain compliance with Counseling Center Policies and Procedures
  • Keep Executive Director apprised of all concerns and incidents related to the Counseling Center and its staff
  • Provide oversight and responsibility for counseling center services and report to the Executive Director of Counseling Center
  • Serve as Direct report for Counseling Center staff
  • Provide supervision toward licensure for new counseling center staff, as assigned by Executive Director
  • Provide individual, couples, and group therapy to Georgia Southern students
  • Provide crisis on-call service in rotation with other clinical staff
  • Provide crisis/triage assessment and response to students as needed
  • Participate in various training programs housed within the Counseling Center
  • Provide clinical supervision to practicum students and Doctoral Interns

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Master's Degree in clinical/counseling psychology or social work

Other Required Qualifications
  • Licensed as an LPC or LSW in the State of Georgia or ability to qualify for and obtain said license within 3 months of start date

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of post-licensure related work experience

Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Professional Supervisor credentials in the State of Georgia (or ability to qualify and apply for credential within 6 months of start date) or Licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Georgia
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems
  • Familiarity with IACS accreditation standards

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in a university Counseling Center
  • Experience with public speaking
  • Experience with crisis intervention

Proposed Salary
56,300 - 66,300

  • Experience and comfort with public speaking

KNOWLEDGE
  • Acquire and maintain strong working knowledge of APA Ethical Codes, ACA Ethical Codes, Georgia legal statutes pertaining to provision of mental health services, and IACS accreditation standards
  • Comprehensive knowledge of counseling theories, mental health diagnoses, interventions, treatment planning and therapeutic outcomes
  • Rich understanding of social, developmental, and psychological issues and challenges faced by diverse populations of students within a higher education setting
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
