General Summary of Position:

The Coordinator for Living-Learning Communities (CLLC) is considered a member of the Residence Life central office team and a member of the Residential Education leadership group. Utilizing the tenants of equity and inclusion to guide their daily work, the CLLC assists the Associate Director for Academic Partnerships (ADAP) in supporting the implementation of an inclusive, comprehensive living-learning community program for a campus population of just under 5,000 students.

The CLLC supports the mission of UMass Lowell, Division of Student Affairs, and the Office of Residence Life by promoting partnerships with UMass Lowell’s academic colleges, providing access to academic support resources, and engaging faculty advisors to play a vital part in the success of residential LLC students. The CCLC must be a strong communicator to be able to communicate purpose, vision, and implementation strategies to all key stakeholders as well as to link education from the classroom to inside the residence halls. The CLLC will also assist the ADAP in implementation and assessment efforts around the residential curriculum model.

The CLLC plays a crucial role in the recruitment and retention of students at the UMass Lowell. The CLLC will work with the Housing Operations team to determine LLC occupancy needs and to guide marketing strategies to recruit students to participate in the LLC program. The CLLC, in conjunction with the ADAP, will manage a budget to run engagement events, support the Faculty in Residence, LLC operations, and faculty advisor training.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

• Collaborate with Academic Departments and University to support the living-learning communities through regularly scheduled monthly meetings with faculty advisors and in-hall residential education staff.
• Assist in the development and implementation of a residential curriculum focused on academic success, inclusion, student retention, and leadership which includes participation in staff recruitment and Residential Leader Development events.
• Effectively respond to student and families through walk-ins, phone calls, and emails. Build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the department and University by collaborating as appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Research to gather satisfaction and retention data compile annual reports in conjunction with Office of Residence Life assessment efforts. Create and submit reports for the Director of Residential Education outlining individual LLC progress, growth, opportunities for improvement, and concerns.
• Participate in Enrollment activities such as Open House, Accepted Students Day, the Early Action Admitted Mentorship Program and Orientation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, CSP, Counseling, MBA or related field
• Minimum 3 years full-time experience in student affairs at a college or university
• Residential Living-Learning Community Experience
• Demonstrated understanding of student development theory and experience working with diverse student populations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with faculty members
• Assessment experience
