Oklahoma State University (OSU) invites applications and nominations for the appointment of Director of Fiscal Integrated Services with Langston University (LU).  The University seeks a leader to facilitate the integrated services relationship between OSU and LU.  The Director serves as the integrated services financial advisor to the President at Langston University and the Associate Vice President for Administration and Finance at Oklahoma State University, as well as other officials at both Universities.

Langston University

Founded in 1897, Langston University is the only historically black college or university in the state of Oklahoma.  Langston is a land-grant university and comprised of three campuses located in Langston, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa.   Serving more than 2,000 students, Langston offers 60 undergraduate and graduate degree options, as well as a professional degree program in physical therapy.  Langston has 511 employees, including 152 faculty.    

 

The Director of Fiscal Integrated Services

This position facilitates the Fiscal Affairs integrated services between Oklahoma State University and Langston University.  Responsible for the overall design, implementation and supervision of financial record-keeping functions and related areas as follows: financial reporting, budget, fiscal and administrative compliance, internal and external audits, cash management and investments, accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, human resources, payroll, bond acquisition, and oversight, legislative oversight of financial issues, and purchasing.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the integrated services relationship between OSU and LU.
  • Serves as the integrated services financial advisor to the President at LU and the Associate Vice President for Administration and Finance at OSU and other officials at both Universities.
  • Supervise and provide effective leadership to those working in the fiscal area of LU.Provide oversight, review, and supervision of the LU fiscal areas, including financial reporting, budget, cash management and investments, accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, human resources, payroll and purchasing.
  • Coordinate and work with departments across both LU and OSU, including LU Academic Affairs and OSU Grants and Contracts Financial Administration.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and reports on program accomplishments of LU in financial terms.Create and provide monthly reports on key financial indicators to the LU President.
  • Provides information and explanation of intricacies in financial management which could affect attainment of LU objectives.
  • Makes decisions and/or commitments on matters pertaining to financial management; gives explanations, information and advice; exercises diplomacy and resourcefulness in maintaining a high level of confidence and professional integrity in solving problems in which there is a difference of opinion and in maintaining the best possible image on behalf of LU and OSU in all relationships.
  • Communicates consistently and effectively with LU and OSU employees along with external LU stakeholders.
  • With the Controller at OSU and Comptroller at LU, coordinate appropriate activities related to internal and external audits for LU, preparing and providing support for the financial statements of LU.
  • Maintains close contacts with NACUBO, SACUBO, CACUBO, GASB, and the AICPA to ensure all applicable pronouncements emanating from any of those groups are assessed for applicability for implementation at LU and are implemented properly, if applicable.
  • Engages continually in and promotes professional development among staff through attendance and participation in professional organizations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Experience

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business or finance and possess seven years of financial administration experience in progressively challenging positions in financial, accounting and/or a higher education environment. 

 

Preference will be given to those individuals with:

  • Ten years financial administration experience in progressively challenging positions in financial, accounting and/or a higher education environment.
  • Experience in a higher education multi-campus environment, and experience in negotiating institutional financial and other interests with federal, state and local officials.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting.
