Job Description

We are looking to hire two Instructional Technologists from this posting.

The Instructional Technologist positions bridge academic technology solutions and pedagogical strategies by providing training and support to faculty in the use of technology applications to enhance pedagogical best practices in support of all UM students, faculty, and staff, as well as 260 degree programs. Current academic technologies include: Canvas, Zoom, Panopto, Voicethread, and many others.

    Collaborate with faculty on the integration and successful application of educational technology solutions including:Provide technical support to faculty in the use of learning management systems and educational delivery platforms for the University of Missouri System to ensure effective educational delivery experiences.Provide learning opportunities for faculty to address both the technical and pedagogical applications of the University’s enterprise academic technologies such as lecture capture systems, streaming systems, learning object creation tools, and academic content repositories, etc. Develop and maintain positive relationships with faculty and other academic leaders.
Design, delivery, and maintain training content to support teaching and learning including:Create and maintain knowledgebase articles, audio/video materials, and other multimedia resources to address effective use of a variety of learning technologies, as well as address changing trends in teaching and learning.Create clear, concise, well-planned how-to video’s and other materials to help students, faculty, and staff in a timely and effective manner to address their unique needs. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of eLearning tools and emerging trends.
  • Respond to a variety of complex and urgent faculty, staff, and student inquiries including independently identifying the issues and delivering solutions. Ensure optimal customer service to a wide variety of customers, including listening and communication skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Coordinate the installation and implementation of new software and/or the migration from old platforms to new. Responsible for developing and implementing effective plans for complex projects in collaboration with a variety of constituents. Perform ongoing maintenance and support.
  • Work regularly and collaboratively with instructional designers, software vendors, and IT technology staff.
  • As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri.

    Salary

    This position is classified as an Instructional Technologist III / GGS Grade 10

    Salary Range: $47,476 - $65,468

    Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm

    Occasional evening and weekend work

    Minimum Qualifications

    Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, and an additional three years of related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Educational qualifications in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or Educational Technology or related area; Progressively responsible experience in Learning Management System administration, design and development of multimedia training, training and software development, and digital video editing is preferred.

    Technical expertise in the following areas is preferred: LMS administration; working with data integration, web-based training development using authoring tools; basic knowledge of programming languages; and digital video recording and editing.

    Experience leveraging the latest instructional technologies to enhance online learning, as well as expanded conceptual knowledge of the role educational support functions have within a successful learning environment.

    Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training tools to bridge technology solutions and pedagogical strategies.

    Successful experience working within a collaborative and results-driven environment.
