The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. Faculty with expertise in applied gerontology, health services, rehabilitation counseling, substance use, and behavioral health concerns prepare students for a career making a positive change in the lives of others. Alumni of our programs become researchers, educators, administrators, and clinicians.

The Department of Rehabilitation and Health Services is seeking a senior administrative specialist to join the HPS family.

This position is responsible for managing the administrative operations and customer related services for a department or program. Coordinates activities and acts as department/area liaison handling issues that are very sensitive and confidential. This position serves as the primary contact for a specified program or departmental functions to include recommending and Implementing administrative departmental procedures. Duties have substantial variety and are often not routine.

Bachelor’s Degree and three years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training

Sr Administrative Specialist

Lifting up to 10 pounds, Ability to communicate

Ensures the accuracy of UNT/EIS data for department accounts through monthly reviews. Initiates and reports necessary corrective actions.

Prepare and analyze accounting data for planning estimates and budget preparation.

Oversees and participates in the preparation of accounting related documents, including invoices and deposits.

Coordinates travel arrangements and reimbursements.

Prepares documents related to payroll and onboarding.

Maintains department property inventory.

Oversees and participates in making supply and equipment purchases with purchasing card or other necessary means and prepares monthly purchasing card reconciliation statement accurately and by the deadline.

Completes work in a timely manner. Meets deadlines consistently. Provides appropriate and timely responses to both internal and external stakeholders. Comes to work regularly, maintains assigned work schedule. Follows procedures requesting leave and reporting absences, and provides necessary documentation/releases to work if necessary.
