Description:

The University of Florida’s College of Public Health and Health Professions invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Tenure-Track Professor. The Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy (HSRMP) seeks a dynamic faculty member whose key responsibilities include undergraduate teaching with the possibility of an additional administrative assignment, contributions to externally funded research and scholarship as both a collaborator and independent investigator, and service. The faculty member’s academic home will be in HSRMP but the individual’s assignment will be split among the Dean’s Office in support of the undergraduate enterprise, the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences for research activities, and the Department of HSRMP for research, teaching and/or service as assigned by the chair. Successful candidates must be committed to working with diverse student and community populations. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month appointment.

Department Overview (www.hsrmp.phhp.ufl.edu):  The department is located in the contemporary Health Professions, Nursing, and Pharmacy Complex and is part of the top ranked accredited College of Public Health and Health Professions. The department offers a Master of Health Administration Program and oversees the health services research concentration in the PhD in Public Health Program and the population health management concentration in the MPH program. It also provides leadership to the MPH social behavioral sciences and public health practice concentrations. Faculty also contribute to the undergraduate health science and public health programs through teaching and mentorship. Departmental faculty provide instructional and health services research expertise in diverse health areas, such as diabetes, infectious disease, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. The department also houses the Florida Office on Disability and Health, whose mission is to improve access to health services and overall quality of life for people with disabilities. 

Additional Information: The University of Florida (www.ufl.edu) is a comprehensive research-extensive university. The College of Public Health and Health Professions (www.phhp.ufl.edu) is part of the University of Florida’s Academic Health Center. The UF Academic Health Center (https://ufhealth.org/about-us) is the only AHC in the country with six colleges located on a single, contiguous campus. These include Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine. The Academic Health Center also partners with the adjacent UF Health Shands Hospital, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and the UF Academic Health Center Regional campus located in Jacksonville, FL. Qualifications:

Minimum Requirement:  A doctoral degree in health services research, health administration, health management, health economics, health policy, public health or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:  The well-qualified candidate will have a record of scholarly achievement and  extramural funding, undergraduate teaching and mentorship, and administrative service consistent with the rank of assistant or associate professor.  Experience in undergraduate teaching as well as applications of health economics to research in communication sciences and disorders are strongly preferred.
